My name is Margo Nygard and I am excited to be a part of this PLP! I have a two year old son, Galvin, who is one of the reasons why this opportunity excites me! He is going to grow up in a learning world different from me and I want to be able to help him (and his teachers) develop, enable, and partake in the PLN opportunities beyond his immediate world.
Although I have the privilege of being a PLP Fellow, I would consider myself a novice in using some 21st century learning ‘skills’ in collaboration with others. My goal last year was to develop my own PLN in regards to mathematics, professional development and new ways of learning and teaching. This year my goal is to go beyond a lurker (or spectator) in the PLN community and become an active, informed, and contributing member in my own PLN and in others.
As for the future, your task is not to foresee it, but to enable it. ~ Antoine de Saint Exupéry
The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. ~ Alvin Toffler
These two quotes help frame my personal vision and mission of my PLN and help me to enable a world that will make it acceptable and encouraged for my son and his peers around the world to learn differently than I did. I look forward to learning with you through this journey and beyond.
